Monkee Mail

Dear Jackie,

I am writing to you to let off steam. Everyone seems to be against the Monkees. What with Jimmy Saville (Savile was later revealed to be one of Britain’s most prolific sex offenders) and Stuart Henry and one particular Juke Box Jury Panel and ¾ of its particular audience and my own Brother, I feel that us Monkee Fans should show ourselves to prove that there are still many fans left.

All My Love,

(P.S. Congratulations to Micky & Sammy.)

Dear Jacky,

I think the Monkees Monthly is the greatest mag ever. The pics are WOW! and the information great. I always look forward to the jokes. I think they are hilarious. Don’t you ever get tired? ’cause all I think you ever seem to do is rush round getting things together for the mag. Please give my congratulations to Glyn Peacock the art editor. All my love

Dear Jackie,

I am writing to let you know I have all the Monkees L.P.’s and I am looking forward very much to the release of their Film. I am sure they must be working very hard.

I would like to meet them very much but I know that is impossible.

I must mention I went to their Concert—it was terrific, also I enjoy the Monkees Monthly very much. As I am a great fan give my love to all the Boys (especially Peter) he is my favourite.

Yours faithfully,
Miss Corrina Essex,

Dear Jackie,

I would like to congratulate the Monkees on producing the most fantastic L.P. I have ever heard!

All the songs are great, and man they sure can play their instruments! They’ve proved that by their Wembley concerts (which I went to) and the outta sight sound on their latest L.P.

I think my Fav. track is “Zor & Zam”. It really haunts me, every time I play the L.P. I always find myself puttin’ it on about 10 times, with the volume full blast! And I nearly always sing it (if that’s what you call the racket I make!)

My little brother Marc even had to admit it is Fantastic (and he’s far from being a Monkee fan!) and he nearly always asks me to put “Zor & Zam” on again. I just wish it wasn’t so short!

I’m terribly happy about the latest news that Micky & Sammy have got married! I’ve been waiting for months and months for them to anounce they’re finally “Mr. & Mrs. Dolenz”. I sure do envy Sammy (in a nice way), she’s really lucky having a fantastic husband like Micky! (but then I suppose she realizes that!).

Love & Peace,
From a very happy Micky & Sammy Fan,
(I love Davy, Peter & Mike too!),

Dear Jackie,

Well done! I’ve been meaning to write in about Jimmy S. but never quite got down to it. I think the day when you were chosen for editor was a blessing for Monkee fans, and whoever it was that chose you certainly knew their onions! My so-called friends at school said that Davy was the one that was showing off, because they don’t like the Monkees, but my other friends realized that Davy was just trying to get a word in. I think Jimmy S’s. behaviour was like a 3-year-old showing off and you’d think for the money he’s getting he’d be able to do it properly!

But, congratulations to you for writing the article.

Dear Jackie,

Thanks for the fantabulous magazine—It’s just outasite. Pity it only comes out once a month.

The new Monkees’ L.P. “The Birds, Bees and the Monkees” is just out of this world and is a fab present for any monkee fan, especially ’cos it’s produced by the Monkees themselves. We know the boys read this magazine so we would just like to congratulate them on this great new L.P. (and all the others in the past, too).

Dear Jackie,

I received the Fab 4’s new album, “The Birds, the Bees and the Monkees”, as a birthday present. I think it’s an absolute knock-out, it’s just G.R.E.A.T., superb, spectacular, marvellous, magnificent, sparkling, Terrific, Fantastic, Fabulous and outasite!!!!

My favourite tracks are “I’ll be back up on my feet”, “The Poster”, “P.O. Box 9867”, “Writing Wrongs” (the instrumental bit in the middle is just Terrific!!) “Auntie’s Municipal Court”, “Dream World” and last but not least “Zor and Zam” which is the most beautiful track on the whole L.P. and sung with that fantastic, groovy sexy voice that only Micky can sing with.

I’d like to congratulate Micky and Sammy on getting married and my sincere thoughts and best wishes to them both, and I wish them happiness and lots of luck now, and for the future. Tell Sammy that she is the luckiest and most envied girl in the W.H.O.L.E. wide World!

I’ll have to stop here before I burst into tears of sheer jealousy.

Lots of love, love ’n’ Peace to Micky & Sammy,

Mike & Phyllis, Peter, Davy and you Jackie for being the best editor ever.

P.S. I hope my letter gets printed.

Dear Jackie,

We are starting a petition to bring the Monkees back to Britain to do some more concerts. We know they are very busy and we do not expect them to come charging over the minute they get this petition. We would be content just to have a definite date for their arrival for a concert tour.

Please could you print this letter in Monkees Monthly and ask all Monkees fans if they will send their signatures, and those of any friends, to:

Caroline, Denny and Steve

Boundary Road,
London, N.W.8.
Thank you. Caroline, Denny, Steve.
