Monkee Mail

Dear Monkee Mail

I would just like to tell you how grateful I am towards Jackie Richmond & Monkees Monthly—when I was in hospital I received a terribly sweet letter and a present of back numbers of Monkees Monthly, to cheer me up, from Jackie.

You see I was the girl who fell over the balcony at the Sunday Matinee concert at the Empire Pool, Wembley.

Thank-you Jackie,
Love & Kisses,

Dear Jackie,

I love the Monkees and I thought the Monkees had millions of fans all over the world. But what’s happened to them because the Monkees latest record “Pleasant Valley Sunday” is already going out of the charts? The highest it got was No. 10. I’ve got it and it’s worth every penny of it. We all love the Monkees don’t we? Well, by buying their records we can show how much we love them. If this record doesn’t get to No. 1, then we fans must see that their next single does. I’m sure the Monkees will be thankful to us. Please don’t let them down. We’ll show ’em that you can do it, won’t we?

Dear Jackie,

Yesterday I listened to the repeat broadcast of “There is a Happy Land” which was made in 1961 and had Davy Jones playing the leading role. It was great, and Davy made it “come alive”. He was brilliant. No wonder he is successful now, if he had that talent at fifteen. I know I’m six years too late, but I want to congratulate him on one of the best radio parts I’ve ever heard.

Lots of luck with the Monkees Monthly, it’s great.

From a loyal Monkee (especially Davy) fan.

The Monkees are the greatest four,
All of them I do adore.
Davy’s sweet, and just my size,
Up and up my charts he’ll rise;
Micky’s always full of wit,
It’s just no wonder he’s a hit;
Peter, with his melting eyes,
Makes me all boil up inside;
Mike? he’s married but who cares?
He gets just as many sighs and stares,
I love them all, I really do,
But so do a thousand others too!

Love from a Monkee fan,

Dear Jackie,

I have just been looking through all my Monkees Monthlys and have found real pleasure in them. I was feeling as though I need a pick-up (school gets you down a bit), but how on earth do you sort everything out so well? The set out is super, the stories are always fantastic, and the pics, WELL! They just make me swoon. I would give all of you folks down there in the Westbourne Grove Offices, a gold medal if only I could.

Love from,

P.S. Do any of the Monkees, themselves, read this mag?

Jackie answers: Yes all the Monkees read their magazine every month. We always rush a copy to each of them by air-mail as soon as it is printed.

Dear Jackie,

When the MONKEES come back to England, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE put Davy Jones in a large card-board box and PLEASE send him to this address.
