MONKEE MAIL c/o MONKEE SPECTACULAR

My friend and I were listening to a Monkee album, but she had put it on the wrong speed by mistake. As a result, they sounded like… well, try it and find out for yourself!
Just thought I’d let you in on a good thing!
I think fans are getting a little carried away asking questions about the Monkees! They are getting too personal!
They are such dolls that I know it’s hard to get enough of them. But can’t they have a few secrets?
I saw the saddest picture of Micky Dolenz in your last issue of MONKEE SPEC. He was looking real sad, like something was the matter. Can you please tell me why he was so sad? I can’t sleep at night thinking that the guy I love is hurt in any way!
Battle Creek, Mich.
Micky says he couldn’t be happier, but he’s pleased you care enough to worry about him!
I simply adore the Monkees, especially Davy! If I had a million dollars, I would honestly give all of it just to see him! He is out of the world in his looks!
I’m miserable ’cause I know I’ll never get to see him. I guess my hundreds of pictures will help me for a while, but not for long!
Davy Fan Forever
I would like you to print my poem in your magazine because every word is true, and it took me a long time to write just how I feel about my favorite Monkee.
M stands for how much I care for you in everything I do,
I stands for the infinite love I have to give you,
C stands for the crying I do each day,
K stands for the kindness I give you in my own special way,
Y means that my youthful love will last eternally through each day.
DAVY—Grooviest—wackiest—swinginest—cutest. Sings groovy songs. I just love him!
MICKY—A wild singer. Cute—lovable!
PETER—A funny guy. Great singer. Cute!
MIKE—Nice hat—neat guitar player. Has a nice wife!
New York, N.Y.
I know girls who break down and cry every time you show them a picture of the Monkees—especially Davy Jones. This is absolutely true! I think these girls are being foolish.
Don’t get me wrong—I love the Monkees too, but I don’t cry over them!
Eau Claire, Wis.
I am writing to thank you and compliment you on your wonderful Monkee Spec magazine. I have bought many other magazines to read articles on the Monkees, but yours are the first to be completely devoted to “Monkee business.”
There were so many articles on things I wanted to know about my fave group—their futures with girls, their personal letters to their fans… I could go on and on!
Please compliment your photographer Bob Custer for me. There wasn’t one picture in your magazine that I’ve ever seen before! The color photos are beautiful and I’ll treasure them forever!
So I say thanks for making one Monkee fan very happy. I’m sure I’m only one of millions, too. I hope they all take the time to write you.
I haven’t missed one single Monkee program yet. I take notes on every one so I can decide which Monkee I like best. I now have a long list under each name. I have “smiles often” under every Monkee except one, and that’s Mike.
He just doesn’t smile enough! I don’t believe I’ve seen him smile more than once! I’d like to put “smiles often” under Mike’s name, so I hope he reads my letter!
Silver Spring, Md.
Saturday I measured myself, and I have only eight more inches to go before I reach Davy’s height!
I don’t think the Monkees in beards are outasite at all! I wish the beards were out of sight!
I love every bone in their bodies, but I can’t stand the beards!!
Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Peter is a good guy, but I still like him the best. Micky is the second best for me. If Peter was able to see me, I’d jump to the moon I’d be so full of happiness! And while I’m up there, I’d send him back a piece of green cheese!
I flipped when I saw those pin-ups of Micky Dolenz in your MONKEE SPEC! They were the most beautiful color pictures of Micky I’d ever seen! I’ve got them on my wall, and it’s almost like having Micky right in your room! Honest!
Oooooh! Do I envy Ann Moses! She seems to go everywhere with the Monkees. Why does she get to go everywhere with them?
La Crescenta, Calif.
Ann spends a lot of time with the Monkees so that she can write stories about them and keep all you readers up to date on what’s happening with them.
