Dear Readers,
So many false stories get started about my friends the Monkees that I want to take this opportunity to get some of them straightened out.
Here are some answers to the questions that I am most often asked.

Q. I heard that Peter Tork of the “Monkees” just got married to Leah Elliot. Is this true?
A. Peter used to date Leah Cohen, who is Mama Cass’ sister, but they are no longer dating.
Q. I really love The Monkees and I watch their show every Monday night. I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Some girls at school told me Davy’s engaged. Is this true?
A. Hardly. Davy, more than any of the Monkees, likes to date lots of girls and is definitely not attached to any ONE.
Q. I’ve been hearing that the Monkees might be taken off the air because they are not top rating in large cities. How true is this?
A. In the early months (last November and December) the Monkees were not getting top ratings, but it wasn’t even being shown in many of the cities polled. The series has been renewed for next season and the Monkees are currently filming next season’s shows.
Q. My friends and I all love the MONKEES, but we were wondering just who sings “Gonna Buy Me a Dog”… Mike or Micky. Please clear up the mystery.
A. It’s Micky on the lead and Davy throwing in little comments now and then.
Q. There have been rumors going around our school that Davy Jones has been killed. I would like to know if that is true.
A. Simply, no. This happens so often, don’t you think that if something like that happened it would be in the world’s headlines? Most likely.
Q. I know this is ridiculous, but all my friends say Micky was in a car accident and was paralyzed from the waist up. My friend and I don’t believe it. Will you please tell me the truth.
A. Keep up the faith, you and your friend are 100 per cent correct.
Q. In the April issue of Tiger Beat Magazine there was a picture of Davy Jones wearing glasses. Does he really wear glasses?
A. No, he had been wearing them in a scene and just left them on. The glasses belong to Micky.
Q. I would like to know if any of the Monkees have steady girlfriends. I was told by a friend that they all had steady girlfriends and Davy was madly in love with a girl named Randy and they were planning on being married. Thank you.
A. Davy has said before that he is not ready to get married and won’t be for several years. He has no steady girlfriend, see question number two above. Peter often dated Leah Cohen, but now sees other girls. Micky is not going steady with any one girl at the moment.
Q. My friends told me that the Monkees do not play their own music. They said that another group is always hidden behind a curtain behind them or something. Is this a true statement?
A. I would estimate that at least 150,000 Monkee fans have seen them in concert. They have seen them play their own music, sing their own songs and put on the best pop concert ever staged. If you think the excitement the Monkees generate on stage can be produced from behind a curtain, you must have a grand imagination! Also, they didn’t spend three weeks time from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily SITTING in the RCA recording studios. They were recording their third album, many of the songs they wrote themselves! I’m a believer, why aren’t you?
Q. I’ve heard that Davy Jones is trying to leave the group. If so, what will happen to the Monkees? Also, what is the color of Mary’s hair, Davy’s girlfriend?
A. Davy is not trying to leave the group, he loves the Monkees. He did set up his own recording company, but it’s strictly for other artists, he is not recording on his own label. I can’t answer your question about Mary’s hair, because I’ve never heard of Mary, especially not from Davy.
