It’s been another exciting month for Davy, Micky, Peter and Mike. Even though they’ve been touring all over the country (see the story on page 3) they’ve also had to work doubly hard on the set to get the Monkee shows filmed. And that’s meant double fun for me, because I’m on the set every spare minute taking notes on all the intimate facts I know YOU want to know about our new faves.
The better I get to know the Monkees, the more I like them. I wish all of you could have the same chance I get to be with the boys, but I’ll do my best to make you feel like you’re right there with them every minute.
Info Info Info Funny expressions of Mike show how he looks while describing an incident to Davy and Peter. He was stopped by a policeman that morning while driving his Riviera to work. Mike talked him out of a ticket. He’s a great storyteller! Info Info Info Set visitors! Angela Cartwright of “Lost in Space” brought her friend Heather to the Monkee set to visit. Info Info Micky brings his dog YOU to the set almost every day. Angela and Heather got a big kick out of talking to Micky. Both he and Angela have been TV stars for years. Info Info Info Davy as a boxer, below, was great fun for him. He loved doing this particular show and was always ‘sparring’ with someone on the set. He loved this picture of himself and made sure I sent one to his father in England. Davy is a very devoted son. Info Above photo shows Davy studying his script for the week. The Monkees never learn an entire script. They simply memorize it line for line as they shoot. Info Info Info Info Splash! A scene like this can only be shot once and Micky did a great job. When it was over he helped the man clean up, but he told me secretly he had fun squashing the cake! Info Info Davy really doesn’t play the guitar but he learned the bass when he became a Monkee. Peter told me, “Davy has quite a musical background and learns any instrument really fast.” Info Notice Mike without his wool hat in this scene. It doesn’t happen often. He wears it even when he goes home. For those of you who don’t have color TV, Mike’s hat is dark green. Info
