There’s only one person that Davy is happy to find wielding a pair of scissors behind his back—and that’s Manny Garcia. This famed Mexican hairstylist is the man in charge of the very special Davy Jones’ hair cut and, as any boy will be able to tell you, having your locks trimmed does require just as much effort on the part of the person whose hair is being cut as the bloke doing the trimming—as you can see from the photos on this and the next two pages.
When Manny is working on the top it just requires a bit of grim determination from Davy. But, as those scissors move down the back and along the sides, you have got to crick your neck into decidedly awkward positions. In fact, it does produce a tremendous variety of expressions on the very expressive Jones’ features.
And if anyone’s wondering what happens to Davy’s hair once it has been cut off, I can tell you that Manny Garcia does send it to fans who write in. But, I don’t think it’s a good idea for any British fans to write asking for bits of Davy’s hair, for I understand, it’s all earmarked (or ‘hair’ marked) for at least two years’ ahead.
