I Visit with The Monkees (Part 15)

Dear TiGER BEAT Readers,

This month was a very special one for the Monkees. First, Micky directed one complete show—an episode he wrote himself! Then the next week Peter directed one episode.

It wasn’t a totally new job for them since the four boys contribute so many of their own ideas to the series each week. The others worked great with their new directors and it was a riot seeing Micky or Peter set up a shot and then run onto the set to be in it too!

What’s really beautiful about the two shows Micky and Peter directed is that besides seeing the Monkees on the TV screen as usual, you know that their combined creative genius brought it to you.

I think it will be really great when the Monkees can do more of this, so that none of their talent will go to waste. Perhaps they can, in the future, vary from the regular format of the show and come up with some new and freaky ideas.

Love,
Ann

Wild costumes got even wilder this season, but that’s one of the things that makes the Monkees’ show so much fun. You can imagine them as all kinds of different characters. Then you can go back and groove on the very real people—Davy, Micky, Peter and Mike, themselves!

Hard work means fun for the Monkees because that’s when they can use their creativity to the fullest.
