Monkee Mail

Dear Monkee Mail,

Perhaps now the Beatle fans will calm down about criticising the Monkees after they’ve seen the Magical Mystery Tour. The Beatles may create more “way-out” sounds, but they have more time in which to create. The Magical Mystery Tour proved that the Monkees are far superior when it comes to acting. It was supposed to be magical and full of fantasy, but it needed a psychologist’s mind to work it out. Beatles’ fans might say that it was a totally different film to the Monkees’ show, but I say that it was produced in much the same way, no scripts, just spontaneity and I know which film I prefer! Acting is something in which the Beatles will always be second best to the Monkees, so perhaps Beatles’ fans will calm down a bit before they knock the Monkees.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Jackie,

ITS the greatest LP in the World! ITS Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn and Jones Ltd, and I can’t stop listening to IT. I hope every MONKEES’ fan will have the chance to own IT, or at least hear IT. I’m very grateful to the MONKEES for making it such a wonderful Christmas, because IT really is the grooviest present that I’ve ever received.

Luv from a MONKEES fan,

P.S.—you’re doing a great job and I’m sure every MONKEES’ fan appreciates it.

Dear Jackie

Would you believe it—just a year ago to this date we had all seen the Monkees for the very first time. Now a year later we’ve had four marvelous LP’s, one fantastic Concert, five singles and countless TV Shows. Not bad for a year’s work eh!

This Christmas I went to Manchester in the hopes of meeting Davy but I’m sorry to say he wasn’t there, however I did meet his dad. Y’see I had a Christmas Cake made for the Monkees and I thought that perhaps if I gave it to Davy he could do the honours for me, but I gave it to his dad. I don’t know whether or not he’s given it to Davy so I wonder if you could find out for me.

Anyway I’m sure that a lot of others would like to join me in saying ‘Thank you very much’ so I’ve written a few words to the tune of the same song—Alright I know it’s not much but at least it’s a way of saying ‘Thankyou very Much’ to the ‘Monkees’.

Thank You very much

Dear Jackie,

For Christmas I had the MONKEES’ Annual and “Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn and Jones Ltd”. They’re both absolutely fabulous, fantastic, funny, groovey, great, super and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

I like most “Cuddly Toy” (’cause Davy sings and Davy’s undescribable) and “Love Is Only Sleeping”.

I agree with Vivien Ashley about “Daydream Believer” and think it should be no. 1.

I, and I’m sure other MONKEES’ fans agree, don’t mind waiting for their releases, it gives me time to save up the money to buy them.

Yours sincerely,

(A Davy fan)
