Letter from the Editor

Incredible! Fantastic! Unbelievable! The Monkees visit was all of those and a lot more. From the moment Micky, Mike, Peter and Davy arrived, to the final goodbye when they boarded the plane to fly back home, they created an atmosphere of excitement wherever they went.

Every fan who watched their SEVENTY MINUTE performance at Wembley will tell you that they worked harder, and put on a more exciting show than any star we have ever seen before. And Micky’s six-hour private get-together with hundreds of fans in Hyde Park is something completely new and original—it’s certainly never been done by any other pop star.

It’s just impossible to get everything into this issue and I know that you want ALL the facts, not just some, so I am going to save details of a lot of the marvellous happenings for next month. The big features in this issue then are complete details of the actual stage performances at the Wembley Pool, Micky’s Hyde Park get-together and the first complete half of the press conference, which the boys gave on Thursday, June 29 in the Royal Garden Hotel.

I’ve been wanting to start a complete Monkees’ story for several issues now, but it has just been impossible due to all the other features that have had to be included. But, come what may, the first part of the story will start very soon. And I promise you that it’ll contain lots of facts about the Monkees that you have never read before.

See you next month with a lot more.
