Davy Jones at Flamboro Downs, Flamboro, ON on September 1, 2003

We arrived at about 6:30 p.m. and the doors opened at 7:00 p.m. Our seats were about ten rows from the stage. A few times before the show, I saw people coming on stage and thought, “Ooh, is that Davy?… oh, no, its not him”. I was worried that he might walk right by me and I wouldn’t even notice, since I hadn’t seen any recent pictures of him. But when he finally did come on stage at about 8:00 p.m, everyone could tell that it was him.

He started the show with “A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You” and then “Valleri”, I think. Then he told some jokes and stories and did “Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow)” and “Papa Gene’s Blues”. Later, he did “The Brady Bunch Theme” and “Girl”, as well as quite a few other Monkees songs, one song from Oliver!, and one or two other songs that I hadn’t heard before. Two members of the band did an All in the Family skit, which was very funny. Davy did the Davy Dance to “She Hangs Out”. Towards the end of the show, he sang “(I’m Not Your) Steppin’ Stone” and “Daydream Believer” and left the stage. A little while later, he came back for an encore and sang “No Time” and “I’m A Believer”.

After the show, there was a line-up to meet Davy, so my mom and I went and waited. Davy returned in about half an hour and then he signed autographs and took pictures with the people in line. We waited another half an hour before we got to meet him, since we were pretty far back in the line, but it was worth it. I said hello and he signed my record and a little advertisement for his new show, Meet the Royals, which everyone received. I took a picture with Davy and we shook hands. By that time, it was pretty late, and it was the first of school the next day, so it was time to leave.

What a great way to end the summer. Davy and the band looked like they were having a good time, and I did too.
