Peter Tork
What’s the name of Peter’s former band?

Q. By now everyone knows that Peter Tork’s act as the dumb member of the Monkees was only an act, and that he really was the musical genius behind the group’s success. I heard that before the 1986 Monkee’s reunion, he had his own band, what was it called?

A. It’s true that Peter Tork is often credited with being the most musically knowledgeable of the Monkees foursome, his expertise includes a talent for acoustic guitar, banjo, bass guitar, classical piano and other instruments. Prior to the Monkees reunion, Peter formed a cult-status band called “The Peter Tork Project” and taught music in New York City.

Q. Can you tell me more about John Taylor, like when is his birthday and what features does he like in a girl?

A. Nigel John Taylor was born on June 20, 1960, making him 27 years old. In the past, this handsome bass guitar player from Duran Duran has said that adventurous ladies catch his eye, especially ones who don’t become jealous of the time he commits to his career. It doesn’t matter if you’re a blonde or brunette, or tall or short, as long as you’re energetic and patient enough to keep up with John’s hectic schedule.

Q. I’ve heard different stories on just who actor Emilio Estevez is related to. Can you give me the correct info?

A. The 24-year-old actor is the son of Martin Sheen, a veteran of motion pictures himself. Unlike brother Charlie Sheen, who has begun his own acting career, Emilio chose to keep his family name.

Q. I really love reading STAR, but I wish you’d print more pictures and stories on Bruce Springsteen. How old was “The Boss” when he first started playing guitar?

A. Bruce Springsteen says rock ’n’ roll gave him his first grasp on life. An unexceptional student, Bruce said that he was “dead” before he picked up a pawnshop guitar at the age of 13. “I know that rock ’n’ roll changed my life,” he said. “Before then the whole thing was a washout for me. It really gave me a sense of myself, and it allowed me to become useful, which I think most people want to be.”

Q. I absolutely love Tom Cruise!! When he’s not making a movie, what kind of things does he like to do? Also, can you tell me the best address I can write to him at?

A. When Tom isn’t flying high in movies like Top Gun or The Color of Money his leisure time is devoted to jogging and reading. Most recently, under the guidance of Color of Money co-star Paul Newman, Tom had developed a passion for the high speed of race car driving. The 23-year-old star bought his own Porsche 911 Carrera and earned his road-racing credentials by taking a high-performance driving course.
