The Monkees TV Special will be a nostalgic experience. It’s the last time we’ll ever see the four great guys together ever again. But their special is not a sad thing, it’s a rollicking, rolling, fun-filled hour with super guest stars. “DYNAMITE” says Peter of the Special, and we think it’s a perfect description!
Info Opening the special is a scene where Brian Auger who is the leader of the British group Trinity, decides to make a super group. He tells each one “You are Monkee number one,” etc. until he has a synthetic super group. Info Once again we get to see Davy dance and sing as he did in “Head.” This number casts Davy as a little boy singing about all the things he loves. What a dancer! Info As soon as Brian Auger informs Davy, Micky, Peter and Mike that they are the Monkees, he dresses them alike and sets them off into a song, as if they were machines. Info Each Monkee had a solo song on the show, Mike’s was a western tune. Info Peter says the special will be DYNAMITE; it certainly looks that way! Info Micky’s solo number was a soulful version of “I’m A Believer.”
