Micky: Does-It-Himself

You would think that a rich Monkee like Micky would never bother to get his hands dirty by doing odd jobs about the house. You’d expect him to ring up a local builder on the ‘phone and tell him to come over with half a dozen men and get cracking while Micky supervised the work, lying back in one of his favourite leather covered armchairs.

But, as every Monkee fan knows, you’d be dead wrong. Our Micky Dolenz is one of the original ‘do-it-yourself’ pop stars. When he had a big new fence and gate erected round his house, he did, in fact, call in a building contractor, but he just couldn’t let them do the job themselves—he had to be in there directing operations, heaving up heavy boards and wielding a hammer along with the workmen.

In fact, he cannot resist almost any building or engineering activity. This month we show him hard at work painting the lounge of his house and, being Micky, he’s naturally going about it in his own peculiar way. That tray that he’s using to hold the paint is, of course, normally used for a paint roller. But Micky is using a brush.

Anyway, I am happy to see that he’s managing to get a bit of paint on to himself. It would be altogether too shattering if Micky managed to paint a large room of his house without allowing a single spot of paint to land in the wrong place.

So, now you know where to write if you want to get the answer to any difficult home decorating problem. But, I warn you, he’s rather expensive to hire personally, by the hour.

………that should be enough to do it.
