Imagine how groovy it would be to help Davy, Peter, Micky or Mike with their Makeup!
Steve Lane, of Columbia Pictures’ makeup department, now has this daily duty on the set of the Monkees’ new film. Steve gives Davy, Peter, Micky and Mike the last-minute touches before they face the cameras!
“They’re really interested in how they look,” Steve reveals. “We even keep a hairdresser on the set every day because the boys are so concerned. This is good, because some performers aren’t as anxious to please all their fans. Davy, especially understands the problems.”
None of the Monkees requires a great deal of makeup. Micky, for instance, usually wears no makeup at all. Davy and Mike use a special base because each has a sensitive skin. Davy uses a special liquid base and Mike has a cream base. Peter is fortunate because he can use the regular pan stick. The only touching up the boys need is around the eyes. Micky and Peter both have small eyes so they’re made to look wider by applying eye liner.
