This month’s guest interviewer is Miss Holly Arthur from Chester, New Hampshire.

1. In your opinion, what is the right age to get married?
There is no chronological age that is “right” to get married. Two people have to be in love, but more than that, they have to be ready to accept the responsibilities of marriage. When they’re ready to cope with the responsibilities, only then will they be able to fully enjoy the pleasures of marriage and life together.
2. If you could be anyone in the world other than yourself, who would it be?
I can’t answer your question, because I’m very happy being who I am. I’m still searching to know myself better and I think that might take a long time, so I really can’t think about being someone else. I just wish I had more time to be me.
3. What is your motto?
“Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.”
4. What do you think of Christian Nesmith?
I think he’s one of the grooviest kids I’ve ever met. He’s so aware and so smart for his age, I really dig playing with him whenever I can. I believe there’s a lot to be learned from children so I love to play with kids whenever I have the chance.
5. Where is your favorite place in the world?
Oh, there are so many places I love to visit, like London and Hawaii and some of the European cities. Then, I dig seeing the different towns in America, because they’re all so different. But if I have to choose one place, I’d have to say California. I can’t limit it any more than that, because I like Los Angeles and I like San Francisco and I like Los Gatos and I could go on and on. So I’ll just say California as a whole. Okay?

1. If you could be any animal, what animal would you choose to be and why?
That’s really a good question that I’ll have to think about. I hope you print that, I want Holly to know I like her question. I guess I’d like to be maybe a leopard, because it can run so fast. Or I’d like to be a bird because they can fly anywhere they want, they have true freedom.
2. What do you like most to talk about?
People I’ve met and how girls differ from other girls. I love to discuss how different people react to the same questions and the same situations. People are really a gas!
3. Why do you wear love beads?
I don’t class them, really, as love beads. They are love beads because that’s what they’ve been called, but to me they’re just jewelry. Only they’re more than jewelry because they’ve been given to me and made by my friends. I only take them off when I go to sleep. They’re the first thing I put on after my shower in the morning.
4. Do you have any bad habits?
Well, I’ve started to bite my nails again and I don’t like that idea. I used to bite them and there was a girl I met in Hawaii that said I had ugly hands because of my short nails, so that sort of inspired me to let them grow. But now I’ve started again.
5. What is your fave song on your recent album?
“Hard To Believe.” I like it not just because I helped in writing it, but it’s the type of song I love to sing. However, I think the best song we’ve ever done is “Goin’ Down.”

1. What is your favorite TV show?
I like lots of them, but “The Smothers Brothers,” “The Monkees” and “I Spy” are my favorites.
2. What is your favorite quote?
“The Universe if [sic] permeated with the odor of turpentine.”
3. Other than reading, what is your hobby?
I read, but it’s not like a hobby. I guess I could say that keyboards and musical instruments are my hobbies. I spend most of my free time working with music, so it’s as much my life as it is my hobby.
4. What do you like most about being a Monkee?
5. What instrument do you enjoy playing the most?
It depends on what I’m doing and the kind of music I’m playing.

1. What do you like most about your fans?
I guess it’s their sincerity. Every once in a while you run into a prankster that will write or say mean things in order to make themselves feel important, but almost 99 percent of the time, when a fan says something you know they mean it. I think it would be great if all people would be as sincere in their feelings towards their friends, family, etc. as they are to us in their letters and when we talk to them.
2. I’ve read you’re taking flying lessons, when do you have the time to do this?
Well, there’s always time for things you really care about. I always seem to have one project or another going and I always make time for it. Right now I’m crazy about flying, so I slip in an hour lesson about once a week. I figure I can spare that much time.
3. What is the craziest rumor you’ve ever heard about yourself?
I heard one once that Phyllis and I were getting a divorce so that Davy could marry Phyllis and I could marry Lynne Randell. To me that was hilarious because of the combination of people involved. Phyllis and I both believe that marriage is a lifetime venture, so the idea of divorce doesn’t even enter our minds.
4. What would you be doing if you weren’t a Monkee?
I guess I’d be doing what I was before I became a Monkee. Perhaps I would have gotten more into producing than performing, though, because I’ve become much more aware of that aspect of the business in the last couple of years.
5. What are your favorite television programs?
I don’t watch TV very often, because I have too many little projects going that I love to work on. When I do want to relax for an hour, I like to turn on the adventure series that makes you think like “Mission Impossible” and shows like that.
