At press time the Monkees were all set to begin shooting their first feature film at Columbia Screen Gems early in February. If things go smoothly on the movie, the fab four will wind up the Hollywood filming early in March and shoot the remaining scenes on their far Eastern tour in the spring.
There’s a great deal of secrecy about the storyline connected with the film, but we can tell you this: Some of the picture will have Davy, Micky, Mike and Peter zooming across the country on motorcycles. Each of the Monkees is contributing ideas for the script so it should be a real winner. Tentative release date is sometime this summer.
Vacation time was a blast for the boys. Davy went home to England to see his family, then on to Switzerland for some skiing; Peter visited his family in Connecticut and then called on friends in Greenwich Village and flew to England for a short stay with friends there; Micky vacationed in Hawaii where Chip Douglas has a home; and Mike stayed home with Phyllis.
