Dear Monkees,
I hope you will read this because I want you to know how grateful you have made me and other teenagers. On your television show, you’ve let us see and understand how hard life sometimes is. You’ve made us happy when we’re sad. You’ve worked so hard, day in and day out, just so your records, personal concerts and television shows will be the best. You’ve done more things for teenagers than we can count. Even at your personal appearances, people can see how you try to please us, so that everyone there can be thankful for getting to see four wonderful guys combine their musical talents in song after song. No, I wasn’t lucky enough to see you perform in person, but I keep asking my friends over and over to tell me what it was like. I know there are some people in this world who don’t think as much of you as I do. I know that someday you’ll make these people realize how much work and trouble you go through, just to make something good for your audience. My friends and I know that we will be very fortunate if you ever come to our city again. I hope you can see the meaning in my letter. I want you to know that there really are people who do believe in you, Davy, Micky, Peter and Mike, and really appreciate the kind things you do just to make us happy.
