Rave of the Year

Davy Jones
Info

Here are RAVE’s own comments on the fantastic election result. And to see if the rave you voted for was placed, look below.

Yes, Davy Jones is your Rave Of The Year!

What a fantastic achievement for our own pint-sized Monkee. And he wasn’t even known last year! Davy has certainly proved that you can be small in inches but big in popularity!

Scott Engel, now solo since the Walkers’ split, ran a close second to Davy and is the only one of last year’s raves to stay in the top three—a wonderful feat, especially with so many new, talented faces on the scene.

And talking of faces, that small one, Steve Marriott, got your votes rolling in to put him in third position!

We are sure that Davy will be delighted to hear the result and to know that his fellow Monkees are also well placed. It is a great honour for him to achieve such popularity in his own country, especially after working so long in America.

Both Scott and Davy are faced with problems for the year ahead.

Scott and the other Walkers, John and Gary, have gone their own ways and Scott will be working hard to build himself into a top- flight solo entertainer. We have no doubt that he can do it and that his thousands of fans will stay with him throughout his career.

Steve Marriott didn’t have to move very far to win his place in your hearts, but he’s certainly gone a long way. The Small Faces climbed from strength to strength in the past year and Kenny Jones, Plonk Lane and Ian McLagan all got lots of your votes.

Who will be the top rave next year? Well, Paul Jones is this year’s number eight, which is very good for so short a solo career, and after “Privilege” and other exciting plans he has for the future, who knows what he’ll do in a year’s time?

Or will there be another sensational group like the Monkees? Who knows? That’s what makes it so exciting. Congratulations, again, Davy, from all RAVE readers!
