After Micky Dolenz returned to his Hollywood home from his recent trip to England, he did something that he’s been looking forward to doing for a long, long time. Micky became a recluse! He decided to cut himself off from the world for a couple of weeks, let his hair hang down, let his beard grow out—forget his public life and anything having to do with Monkee business—and indulge himself by doing exactly what he wanted to do. So come into Micky’s home, softly close the door behind you, and watch in silence as Micky goes about living out his very, very private life.
Looking more like a young monk than a Monkee, Micky winds the film in his motion picture camera. What did he shoot? The walls and the ceiling—and at night, the stars and the moon. Now begins a series of something that’s almost like magic. First, Micky solders these copper wires with a fine beam of fire. How do you cool it afterwards? Just put your lips together—and blow. What Micky is putting together will probably turn out to be a lamp base or a dangling mobile. Ah, it’s already three-sided—so maybe it’s going to become a lamp base. The fine art of wire sculpturing (with brass or copper wires) has been Micky’s favorite pastime for a number of months. Here, Micky displays a side of the lamp base. You see him looking through a Ban The Bomb symbol, which he made. What’s this, Micky? Looks sort of fishy to us. “Right you are, luvs. This replica of a fish’s spine will make a beautiful wall decoration.”
