You probably can’t even remember when the Monkees weren’t around! But it wasn’t too long ago when the show hit the NBC-TV network. In fact it was last September 1966. Just before the show went on the air, there was a big promotional day plugging the Monkees’ first record, “Last Train to Clarksville.” The Monkee Spectacular photographer was on the trip to snap the action.

FIRST DAY OF MEETING FANS for the Monkees was on “The Last Train to Clarksville, before their show came on the air. The boys flew in by helicopter. It was so exciting! They couldn’t believe the fantastic reception!
DAVY’S HAIR WAS still long in back when he vacationed in New York and England last September. Davy used to wear those little specs, below, and later changed to round sunglasses.
